Sykkylven Natural History Museum

- the only one of it`s kind in Møre og Romsdal- was established in 1979.

In June 1992 the museum reopened with a new and extended collection. The new premises, covering more than 400 squaremetres, is located at Vik in the centre of Sykkylven. The collection  comprises 270 animals and birds from Norway and Spitsbergen. It contains a lot of exciting and rare species
e.g. polarbear, moose, lynx, bear, wolf, owls, eagles and falcons.

The preparation work is done by taxidermist Stien Ivar Bakka and Torleif Åsmo. In cooperation with the painter Stein- Kåre Nygård they have succeeded in making displaycases true to nature with vegetation and paintings.
